MINOXIDIL 5% The gold standard in hair regrowth.
Minoxidil is the most clinically studied topical hair growth ingredient in the world — and for good reason. It works by widening blood vessels in the scalp, delivering more oxygen and nutrients directly to your follicles. It also extends the anagen (active growth) phase of the hair cycle, meaning your hair grows longer and stays put instead of shedding early. In clinical trials, 5% minoxidil delivered 45% more hair regrowth than the 2% concentration, with visible improvements in as little as 2–4 months.
DUTASTERIDE 0.3% The DHT blocker that goes further.
DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is the hormone responsible for shrinking your hair follicles over time — it's the primary driver of male pattern hair loss. Dutasteride inhibits both type I and type II 5-alpha reductase enzymes, blocking up to 90% of DHT production. That's significantly more than finasteride, which only targets one enzyme type. And because it's applied topically rather than taken orally, it works where you need it most — at the scalp — with far less systemic absorption.
TRETINOIN 0.01% The absorption amplifier.
Tretinoin (a derivative of Vitamin A) serves a critical support role in Rise. Research shows it increases the skin's permeability, boosting minoxidil absorption by up to 3x compared to minoxidil alone. But it doesn't stop there — tretinoin also upregulates sulfotransferase enzymes in the hair follicle, which are required to convert minoxidil into its active form. Cetirizine suppresses PGD2 production while boosting prostaglandin E — a compound that supports growth. Clinical studies show topical cetirizine increases total hair density, terminal hair density, and the percentage of hairs in the active growth phase, all with virtually zero reported side effects.
CAFFEINE 1% The follicle energizer.
Caffeine is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, meaning it increases cyclic AMP levels inside hair follicle cells — directly stimulating cell metabolism and proliferation. In lab studies, caffeine counteracted testosterone's suppressive effects on hair growth and extended the anagen phase. It also has a unique delivery advantage: hair follicles absorb caffeine up to 10x more than surrounding skin, making it exceptionally efficient as a topical ingredient. Add in its antioxidant properties, and caffeine helps protect follicles from oxidative stress that accelerates thinning.
